Some are ridiculous.

A surprising number become websites.

Pencil drawing of Marjorie

I work in pharma R&D IT by day. On the side, I build small, oddly specific things — an NFL betting model that isn't very accurate but I'm still up $50, a weather email service that skips the ads, a run tracker that shows exactly what I need to see to stay motivated. Come see what I made while I was supposed to be doing something else.

Goal Line$ logo
Goal Line$ weekly NFL spread predictions from a proprietary model Torturing easy-to-get historical game data until it gives up its secrets and makes the NFL feel a little less random is a dirty little pleasure of mine. Two years in, up $50 on a $100 stake. stage: production visit site →
Finish Lines logo
Finish Lines my own run log — targets, progress, and the metrics that actually matter to me I use a commercial app for the guided runs themselves, but this is where I actually keep score: goals, progress against plan, longest run, rolling 7-day pace. the calendar of which days I ran is oddly satisfying — sometimes I open it just to look at it. stage: production visit site →
Weather Ahead! logo
Weather Ahead! a no-ads, 7-day forecast that shows up in your inbox Enter your zip code and pick a frequency — you get one plain email with a 7-day outlook and simple icons for good running days, plant-watering days, and freeze warnings. no app, no ads, no doomscrolling a radar map. stage: production visit site →
Prioritization logo
Prioritization so many ideas, so little time the thing about ideas is they are like rabbits, they make more little ideas. I need a way to keep track of them and decide which ones to pursue. stage: idea
Cozy Mysteries logo
Cozy Mysteries Murder, She Graphed We've all been there, watching a British mystery show, a guest character appears. That nagging feeling, I know that face! 20 minutes of IMDb rabbit holes later... stage: idea
Product Recommender logo
Product Recommender because sometimes shopping involves requirements docs My parents sent their robot vacuum back five times before finding the right one. Clearly, there is opportunity for better product recommendations for picky people with specific needs. stage: in-progress
Waters Edge logo
Waters Edge the renovation, imagined anddocumented So future-us remembers why we chose the tile. And that paint color. And the wallpaper mural of "Cartoon Chicken in a Hoodie". stage: idea
